Torgah Extends His Lead As Gift & Mapwanya Are Chasing Close.

It has been a day of excellent display of professionalism from all players participating in this year's edition of the African Tour's 1st October Championship as the second round concluded here at the Porthacourt Golf Club.

Ghana's Vincent Torgah who was at top of the leaders board after the first round, didn't seem to be leaving any one in doubt of his abilities as to wether or not he wants to add this years tittle to his cabinet of trophies. Mr Consistency himself after shooting a record setting opening round of seven_under_Par_63 on day one, followed it up with a second round of five_under_Par_65 on day two, at the Par 70 Porthacourt Golf Course.
The 36 years old Ghanaian had a round which featured six birdies, eleven pars and a single blemish on the eleventh hole where he had to settle for a bogey, and now leads the field by six strokes heading into the moving day.

Meanwhile Porthacourt based player Gift Willy moved up the leader board by a single spot after carding a successive three_under_Par_67 in the second round to join Zimbabwe's Visitor Mapwanya who shot a two_under_Par_68, with both player's now tied for second @six_under_par after 36 holes.

Chukwudi Okoro of Benin Golf Club who also had a runner up finish at the 2018 African Tour's (Nigeria Masters) event, kept a clean card in the second round after returning a three_under_par_67 leaving him solo 4th on the leader board and nine shots behind the pace setter Vincent Torgah.

After a first round four_over_par_74, four time winner on the tour, Sunday Olapade posted a brilliant three_under_par_67 on day two to tie Kabiru Haruna who also carded a 69 in the second round, with both players now 5th position heading into the moving day of the tournament.

Two other players also beat the course on day two. Vetran golfer Emos Korblah and Friday Apodiete of Ikoyi Golf Club carded pairs of 69's on day two with both players now 9th and 13th positions respectively heading into the third round of the championship.
