First round (leg7) of the Race to Nigeria masters (Pro/Am) tournament

7th leg race to Nigeria masters: G. Inalegwu takes lead in first day of the tournament.

With 37°C weather condition in the beautiful city of Owerri, 6 players begins to battle in the Race to Nigeria Masters Leg 7.

Topping the leaderboard with a course par (72) is G. Inalegwu. He started the round with a par in 1st, 2nd, hole, birdie in 3rd, bogey in 4th, par in 5th, 6th & 7th, birdie in hole 8th and eventually finish the front nine with a par to make 34. With birdie in 10th, 12th, 13th hole, bogey in 11th, 15th, 17th & 18th hole and 14th and 16th hole being a par, saw him coming in with 38, finishing the round with a course par (72).

In a media chat with the africantour correspondent, the golfer said “this is a pretty good way to start the tournament, am very happy with my today’s game play and I will do whatever it takes to maintain the lead”.

Coming close in second place with 2 scores difference is D. Ali who played a 2 over par (74). His game was a combination of 8 par, 4 birdie and 6 bogey.

​

“I am not really happy with by game today not because it was really that bad but because I wasn’t  in my best mood which had effect of my output but nonetheless, tomorrow is another day to go hard and achieve desired result”, Ali said in a media chat.

 

L. Onjefu who was the winner of the Race to Nigeria Masters Leg 6 tied with J. Moses and U. Anoruo with 3 over par (75) in third place on the leaderboard.
