5th leg race to Nigeria masters: G. Inalegwu wins the 5th leg of the tournament

Inalegwu’s words to the media yesterday wasn’t a bluff afterwards as the consistent golfer maintained his position as the first on the board of the 5th Leg of the Race to Nigeria Masters.

 

It’s the final round of the tournament and it’s been an interesting one so far; 3 of the 8 players that have been battling to subdue the course finally did and made a cut. With a cumulative of 297 with +9 after 72 holes, G. Inalegwu became the first person on the leaderboard. His game play in the final round earned him 3 over par (75) but the cumulative of the previous rounds saw him coming the first place on the board.

“God indeed works in a miraculous way. My game wasn’t really that good but all I can say is that grace found me”, Inalegwu said in a media chat.

Following closely with a score difference is J. Alex whose game ended with a cumulative of 298 with +10 after 72 holes. Starting the round with a par in 1st, 2nd & 3rd hole, a birdie in 4th, par in 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th and eventually finishing the front 9 with a bogey to make 36. With a bogey in hole 10th & 16th, birdies in 11th, 13th, 14th and par in 12th, 15th, 17th & 18th, saw him coming in with 39, finishing the round with 3 over par (75).


In a media chat, the golfer said,“The goal is to make the cut not to compete to get to the top cause apparently, the only person you’re competing with is yourself and am glad i made the cut”.

Nonetheless, U. Anoruo didn’t disappoint the audience cause he didn’t just maintained being the third place on the leaderboard, he also managed to make a cut regardless. His final round earned him 4 over par (76) and the cumulative of the entire round being 300 with +12 after 72 holes saw him coming the third on the board.

​

Talking to the africantour correspondent, the golfer sounded disappointed but ready to put in it all in the next tournament.
